"Peaceful solitude is much better than chaotic company."
While there are Pro & Cons for living life as a single person, this week is dedicated to embracing the joys & perks of being single!
Here's what I have learned about being single....
- Being single as given me more time to focus on myself & discover who "I" am. The chance to reflect, reconnect, and rediscover what makes me happy. Because I spend a lot of time by myself, I really do know "Me" and what makes me tick!
- Being single has brought me closer to my family & good friends. Living alone does not mean you have to be lonely. I am lucky to have such wonderful and supportive adult children that enjoy spending time together doing family activities. I am grateful for the close friendships I have made over the years. Whether my seasoned friendships, newly developed, on-line, off-line, or those yet to be, I appreciate the flavor, color, and warmth each one brings into my life.
- Being single has helped me to step outside my comfort zone & explore places, ideas, & activities I may not have as part of a couple.
- Being single allows me to do things around the house in the nude--cook, clean, laundry, etc just because I can!
- Being single means my time and money is my own. I can spend it however I want. I love having the option to indulge in whatever suits me for the moment--arts, theater, voluntarism, hobbies, travel, and pastimes that I can spend as much or as little time doing; sleeping in, going out, staying in, or hanging out in my PJs all day...whatever I want to do.
- Being single means my home is just the way I want it to be. I don't have to pick up after another person. I don't mind my pets on the furniture or sleeping in the bed with me. I have complete control over the remote. It's perfectly fine to spend an evening curled up with my fur-babies watching classic movies or cartoons if I feel like it.
- Being single gives me the option to say, "it's been a nice evening but it's time for you to go now" and "yes, I would like you to stay". It's totally up to me.
So...singles, what is your attitude about being single?
